1. Why should I use Advanced Nutrients?
Answer: Advanced Nutrients are simply the most excellent all-purpose horticultural fertilizers on the market today. A team of 5 pHd's (all with degrees in plant science) have constructed a comprehensive fertilization program for faster, healthier production of all your greenhouse crops - the "2+" program. The 2+ program combines complete pharmaceutical-grade fertilizers with supplementation of every nutritional variable that is not a base element - enzymes, B-vitamins, hormones, carbohydrates, humic and fulvic acids, and crucial amino acids that are missing from other general hydroponic fertilizers.
Advanced Nutrients conducts continuous research and development in 16 laboratories - the largest hydroponic nutrient research and development program in the world. Weekly tissue sampling throughout each stage of a plant's life has enabled Advanced Nutrients' scientists to create products that are calibrated to the exact requirements of your crops. The use of pharmaceutical grade chemicals ensure that a higher percentage of what you see on your TDS meter is actually available to plants. Other general hydroponic fertilizers only use technical grade chemicals to blend their nutrients. That means that only 75-80% of the dissolved solids are actually available to plants. The missing percentage of these tech-grade nutrients is made up of unusable salts and precipitants that actually inhibit growth and slows uptake of usable nutrients. To compliment the higher quality ingredients, Advanced Nutrients uses only pure, high temperature reverse-osmosis water (0 ppm) for the manufacture of all of their liquid products. This ensures total bacterial control and the complete suspension of all elements in solution.
Ordinary fertilizers brag about using chelated micro-nutrients, but use only one type of chelator. Advanced Nutrients uses at least two chelators per micronutrient - sometimes as many as four types of chelators (such as with iron) to maintain optimum availability over the longest timeline. However, despite the fact that Advanced Nutrients uses higher quality constituents in these fertilizers and has spared no expense in the research that backs their product, the retail price of the 3-part nutrient line is actually less expensive than the nearest leading general hydroponic fertilizers. In addition to their base fertilizers and supplements, Advanced Nutrients has created biological products (Voodoo, Piranha, Tarantula) that control every major greenhouse pathogen (All root rot species, powdery mildew, botrytis bud rot), so you can spend more time growing and less time worrying.
These are just a few of the many reasons why you should be using Advanced Nutrients. [back to top]

2. I'm new to indoor growing which of the primary nutrients do you recommend ?
Answer: First, you should have confidence that by choosing any of the Advanced Nutrients products you can't go wrong. They are simply the best on the market.
Start by choosing a primary nutrient, either a 1 part, 2 part or 3 part. Each choice has its advantages. The Sensi One Grow and Sensi One Bloom powders are simple and easy to use and you can expect phenomenal results. The three-part nutrient Grow, Bloom and Micro combo require more mixing but are equally good for both the vegetative and bloom cycles. In other words you don't have to buy a grow and a bloom formulation. Its all there it one package. However, my recommendation is the two part Sensi Grow and Sensi Bloom A & B. Thats where Advanced Nutrients has but their major research and development dollars and you can expect to receive uncompromising results from this formulation. It is truly the best of the best.
Second, you should take a look at the nutrient calculator at http://www.mondoproshop.com/nutrient.php and use the products recommended for each stage of the growth cycle. [back to top]

3. I use both Piranha and Tarantula. With Tarantula, is Voodoo Juice still recommended since, from my understanding, they do the same thing? Perhaps I'm wrong.
Answer: Piranha, Tarantula and Voodoo Juice are formulated to work together. Although, some of these products my seem redundant in their descriptions they are actually working on different mechanisms or pathways in the plant. For example, you can get up to 25% more root mass by adding Tarantula to your fertilization regime then using Piranha alone. For maximum effect you should use all three. [back to top]

4. There are so many Advanced Nutrients products how do I choose which ones I really need?
Answer: The major limiting factor is genetics of the particular strain of plant you are growing. But If you want your plants to be all that they can be I recommend that Advanced Nutrients user follow the 2+ Bloom and Vegetative formulations set out in the Advanced Nutrients Calculator. Of course this may be a more expensive way to go then using lesser products but the results justify the additional expense. Using quality products is always less expensive than cheap products. In other words you get what you pay for. In order to help our customer Advanced Nutrients Direct has put together discounted packages that include all the products you will need at discounted prices. Preassembled collections of the 2+ Bloom Program, High Yield Kits and Vegetative Grow Program are available on this site. [back to top]

Our company prides itself on grower-testing and feedback. Weve been favorably written about in the worlds major magazines, and by expert growers. We are so confident about our products that we offer an unprecedented 100% money-back guarantee thats the best in the business. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. What is different about Advanced Nutrients products as compared to other companys products?
Our company uses the finest components and manufacturing standards, no matter the cost, and even if it means that our products arent very profitable. We have onsite chemists and other quality control experts who monitor every batch we make. We use the best chelates and sources for our materials, and we constantly upgrade our products as needed to make sure they give you the most for your dollar. And, it is impossible to emphasize this too strongly, we test and design forthe vary best competitors dont. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Why do I even need to use fertilizers?
If you are growing in soiless gardens, you must provide all nutrients to your plant; because rockwool and other soil-free media are sterile and contain no nutritional elements. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. If I am growing in good soil, do I still need to use your products?
Even the best soils lack the specific resin-stimulating materials that our products contain. These materials are designed to trigger flowering and to create massive resin production. Most soils lack basic nutritional elements, and they also lack the biological substrate of beneficial microbes that create healthy root zones. No matter if youre growing in rich soil or in a soil-free sterile media, our products can improve growth rate and production. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Is it possible to give plants too much water?
Definitely! Most people overwater their plants without realizing it. Growers can buy simple test devices that measure soil moisture and indicate when more water is needed. Water-retention properties differ between grow media. Rockwool slabs, for example, are notorious for getting waterlogged, especially if they are flush against the bottom of an ebb-flow table with little drainage. Poorly-made soil can also be a water trap. Too much water means that the roots can't breathe; they drown. Overly moist grow media provides ideal conditions for proliferation of harmful pathogens and pests. Overwatered plants might show nutrient deficiency symptoms. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. What are good watering techniques?
Your plants and grow media guide you on the proper schedule and methods of watering. Plant water needs are determined by grow room conditions, genetics, lighting, growth phase, and humidity.
You can read your plants' water needs by carefully observing the plants. During lights-on, plant leaves should be parallel to the floor and show hydrostatic inflation. They should not droop or be angling upwards (if they are angling upwards, it could be a sign of overwatering, overfertilization, or not enough light). If plant leaves are drooping during lights-on cycle, in the absence of pests, pathogens, diseases or other factors, and if this drooping is accompanied by grow media that looks dry and is dry to the touch, the plants are probably underwatered. You can measure the moisture content of your grow media if you are growing in pots- just pick up the pot to feel its weight when the media is full of water, and then compare that to the weight of the pot when it is dry.
To provide oxygen to roots, make sure that your watering method causes water to go through the entire grow media and then to pour out the bottom of your container. If you are growing in rockwool slabs, elevate the slabs using sterile volcanic rock so the slabs have room to drain at the bottom. Oxygenation can be increased in reservoir systems by putting an aquarium aerator into the reservoir. In general, water plants every two days, and let the top 1/3 of the grow media dry out a bit between waterings. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11. How can I tell if I have enough nutrients in my water?
Every serious grower should invest in a parts per million (ppm) meter, and keep it properly tuned and calibrated. The ppm of your nutrient water will vary, depending on the quality of your water, the ferts you are using, and the growth phase of your plants. In general, the ppm of properly formulated nutrient water will be between 500 and 2000 ppm, depending on conditions and the type of feeding program that you are using. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12. Does water quality affect nutrient water ppm, pH and plant health?
Yes. It is very useful to use reverse osmosis purified water, so that your base water starts at or close to zero ppm. It is also useful to test your base water, to see if it has minerals or harmful materials in it. Tap water often contains minerals and/or pollutants that make it a less than ideal water to use for your plants. You should be especially concerned about high levels of chlorine, calcium, lead, radiation, and iron in your base water. Advanced Nutrients uses purified water in the manufacture of all its formulations, but if you use tainted water to mix our products into, you might have problems with nutrient lock-up, pH, ppm, and other factors. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13. How can I best control pH and ppm for proper feeding?
Advanced Nutrients products are engineered to be the correct pH and ppm. Our different base fertilizer products can be configured specifically for your crop. Our Sensi Pro box, for example, comes in different strengths so you can tailor your feed program. Diligent testing and quality control using pH and ppm meters, using pure base water, and using our products are the best ways to achieve the correct pH and ppm for your plants. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14. Watering better than other methods?
There is no one best method for watering. Properly timed drip emitters operating via pumps can be just as effective as hand watering using a water wand. Factors that influence your watering choices include plant density, number of plants, access to root zones, and practical considerations. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15. Are there any other cautions that you offer regarding watering?
Water in a grow room can be a hazard. Be sure not to use water carelessly when there are electical outlets, wires or appliances anywhere near by- growers can be electrocuted. Water should only be applied to plant leaves, roots and grow media in ways that prevent pooling of water and other situations that create pathogenic breeding grounds. Water only during lights on cycle, and in general, stop watering two hours before your lights go off. [back to top]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16. Should I stop watering during the last weeks of flowering?
No, but you should stop using nutrients during the last ten days of flowering, and flush your crops with a combination of pure water and Final Phase in an alternating use pattern. This encourages plants to use their own stored nutrients and also removes any residues that can affect taste and combustibility. [back to top]
